My mother died in the Summer of 2017. It was unexpected, but not a surprise. My mother was an alcoholic who desperately battled her addiction in what would be the final decade of her life. A Song For You From Far Away is an attempt at documenting and processing her addiction and death through my interactions with it. Much of this book is uncomfortable and even embarrassing, but is presented in hopes to open conversations about a reality that surrounds us, but not everyone is equipped to discuss.
A Song For You From Far Away is 54 pages of risograph printed text and analog medium format photographs, in an edition of 120. A Song For You… was printed while residence at Tanline Printing in Tucson, AZ in July of 2017.
